GLASGOW, Dec 31 (SW) – Scottish giants Celtic are looking to secure a trial for Lecce midfielder Alexei Eremenko, with a view to a possible loan move.

“Eremenko has been recommended to us by our chief scout. It doesn't cost us anything to have a look at someone that might be a good player for us,” said Celtic boss Gordon Strachan.

The player’s agent, Angelo Massone, is not sure what Lecce has in mind for the 22-year-old Finland international.

"I have received an official invitation from Celtic to bring Eremenko to Glasgow in January for a trial," confirmed Massone.

"Celtic are interested in taking the player on loan, but I am not sure if Lecce want to let that happen."
