ULM, 12 Nov (SW) – The German national women’s team are still unbeaten in World Cup qualifying group four after a 4-0 win against Switzerland, which still has no points at all. The World and European champion won the game easy, also because an early 2-0 lead within twenty minutes. Steffi Jones (Germany) played her 100th match for Germany.
In a packed Donau Stadium the spectators saw Steffi Jones, player of FFC Frankfurt, score after ten minutes. She headed in a Renate Lingor free kick. Defensive Switzerland was directly under pressure, before the 1-0 Renate Lingor already hit the crossbar. Ten minutes later the team of National Coach Silvia Neid scored 2-0, Britta Carlson passed Switzerland goalkeeper Marisa Brunner. Turbine Potsdam-star Petra Wimbersky scored the 3-0 just over the half hour.
In the second half changes of Birgit Prinz, Anja Mittag and Petra Wimbersky didn’t feel the nets. But a 62nd minute goal of Britta Carlson produced the 4-0 end result.
