POTSDAM, 20 Nov (SW) - The team of Turbine Potsdam today had bad luck as they lost the first match of UEFA Women's Cup semifinal versus Djurgarden/Älvsjö 2-3.
In the first half Turbine was the better team, although Djurgarden had the first chance (4'). Five minutes later Anja Mittag shot the ball over the goal, after that Ariane Hingst failed to score by a header. Some seconds later Cristiane scored first goal out of 16 meters in the 11th minute. Close to the half hour mark Conny Pohlers scored the second for Potsdam caused by a mistake in the Swedish defence, 2-0. The only good chance for Djurgraden in the first half was for Victoria Svensson, but the shot went wide (35'). One minute after this change Anja Mittag hit the post making 2-0 the half-time score. In the second half things changed radically. Potsdam played more defensive, so it was clear that Djurgarden would get more good changes. In the first 30 minutes Turbine still had luck with the defensive tactics, but after that the Swedes became better and better. In the 78th minute Linda Fagerström scored the 2-1 when Turbine in the end capitulated. But it was not the end, Turbine became unsure and so Djurgarden scored another two goals. First Laura Kalmari saw her deflected shot end in the Potsdam nets, then Svensson scored the second from a free position in added time. Potsdam went down by their defensive tactics the second half, nevertheless the final is not impossible for Turbine. Turbine Potsdam – Djurgarden 2-3 (2-0) Referee: Claudine Brohet (Belgium), Attendance: 1,616 Goals: 11. Cristiane 1-0, 26. Conny Pohlers 2-0, 78. Linda Fagerström 2-1, 86. Laura Kalmari 2-2, 90.
