BIELEFELD, Jan 16 (SW) - Turbine Potsdam won their second TuS Jöllenbeck international Womens tournement. Beating Fortuna Hjorring in the final with deciding penalties after a 2-2 score in the regular time.
The tournament attracted a good crowd of 2,250 over the weekend and even top referee Urs Meier. The referee of the Champions League final of 2001 said to come to enjoy the good quality of play.
And great play there was.The participents kept up their high level of play and never disappointed the attenters who came to their 27 th edition of what the organisers call the best indoortournement in Europe. In the final Connie Pohlers and Arianne Hingst made the difference for Turbine, where as Christina Bonde and Norwegian Runa Vikestad attracted positive attention for the Danish champion.
Fortuna had reached the final after a good win over FCR 2001 Duisburg. Fortuna did better with the penalties after the undecided 2-2. Again young Gütersloh did surprisingly well but their fighting spirit had costed to much of their strengh to beat Duisburg in game for third and fourth place. The Germans number one, with Inka Grings, won 2-0.
07 Bad Neuenahr had a better second tournement day and ended right before Finnisch champion HJK Helsinki. National champions KS AZS Wrocloaw and AC Sparta could not live up to their reputation and ended last and one before last.
