LONDON, Jan 7 (SW) – Six-months after losing Edwin van der Sar, Fulham look to have secured a goalkeeping replacement.

The London side is believed to have agreed terms with Southampton over the transfer of goalkeeper Antti Niemi, a move which could take place in the next 24-hours.

Niemi would step in as automatic first-choice for Chris Coleman’s side, sending Tony Warner to the substitutes bench.

Finland international Niemi is a much admired ‘keeper given his outstanding success during his time in England, and it is somewhat surprising that he was not signed by any Premiership sides during the summer.

The move is rumoured to be worth £1 million.
