FRANKFURT, May 17 (SW) - Germany defender Philipp Lahm injured his elbow in an exhibition match Tuesday night, raising concerns that the 22-year-old will miss next month’s World Cup finals.
The Germany squad took on fifth-division FSV Luckenwalde on Tuesday, winning 7-0, but the victory was muted by Lahm’s injury late in the first half.
The Bayern Munich defender fell awkwardly on his elbow, raising concerns that it may be broken.
"Lahm was taken to hospital for an X-ray to see that his elbow isn't broken," said goalkeeping coach Andreas Kopke.
Lahm will undergo further tests on Wednesday in Frankfurt before joining the squad for a training camp on the Italian island of Sardinia.
