SARDINIA, May 19 (SW) - Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has offered his support to Jens Lehmann after his Arsenal rival was sent off in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League final.

In the 18th minute of the final at the Stade de France, Lehmann clipped Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o as he raced towards the goal, earning himself a red card and leaving his club handicapped for the bulk of the match which Barcelona won 2-1.

"I have no doubts Jens is strong enough mentally to get over it," Kahn said at Germany's training camp on the Italian island of Sardinia.

"Such things happen in football. He needs to forget about it as soon as possible.

"It can be compared to a car accident - when people remember it every time they drive past the scene where it happened. But it is psychological rubbish if you think such things will happen all the time now."

Germany are training on Sardinia as they prepare for next month's World Cup which they open on June 9 in Munich against Costa Rica.
