ROME, May 21 (SW) - Italian media are pressurizing national team manager Marcello Lippi to resign after being involved in the current match-fixing scandal in the south-European country.
Lippi was accused of allowing former Juventus president Luciano Moggi to force him to select - or not select - certain players for the national squad.
Influential sports paper Gazzetta dello Sport wrote that "Lippi at the World Cup is a risk," and polls point out that a majority of the Italian population expects for the nation to need at least three years to recover from this scandal.
Italy start their World Cup campaign against Ghana on June 12th, followed by matches against the United States and the Czech Republic on June 17th and 22nd respectively.
