LIMA (SW) - Steaua Bucharest player Andrés Mendoza has accused the Peruvian football association of racism, and claims that that is the reason why his punishment was not reduced, as opposed to those of other players.

Reportedly, four players were involved in a party ahead of Peru's qualification match with Ecuador in November. Ecuador went on to win that match 5-1.

Jefferson Farfán, Claudio Pizarro, Santiago Acasiete and Mendoza were suspended by the Peruvian FA but only the first three had their punishments reduced from eighteen to just three months, and are now free to play for the national team again.

"I was the first player to apologize. I didn't drink alcohol and didn't take part in an orgy or party. Still, I am punished while the others get their punishments reduced," the player complained.

Mendoza claims to have received racist comments from the FA treasured while another official supposedly told the player that he can't read.

I do not like this, but maybe Mendoza has a point. The eighteen-month suspension appeares to be too harsh. The punishment does not seem to fit the crime especially considering that the other 3 players had their suspension reduced. What do you think guys?

I would really like to know what the full story is, before passing comment.
These days there are too many issues that are, supposedly, caused by racism.

Racism? Too often used as an explanation or excuse nowadays. Giorgio's right: we need to know the full story.

OK, guys! But where do we get the full story from? Certainly not from the Peruvian Federation!
