UEFA Women's Championship 2009

Sweden delivered a good result in their UEFA Women's Championship opener, beating Russia 3-0 in the city of Turku.

Not even five minutes had passed at Turku Stadium when the Swedish went ahead with Charlotte Rohlin heading home from a Therese Sjögran corner kick.

And the Scandinavians went two up ten minutes later. Lisa Dahlqvist provided the assist that allowed Victoria Sandell Svensson to head in past keeper Kochneva.

The third and final goal came at eight minutes from the end, as a Caroline Seger shot from outside the penalty area ended up in the top corner for 3-0.
