England eliminate hosts Finland at Women's Championship
England were the first team to secure a spot in the semi finals of the UEFA Women's Championships, beating hosts Finland 3-2 in the quarters.
The English took the lead after 14 minutes at Turku Stadium. Fara Williams provided a pass from the right and Eniola Aluko was first to reach the ball before slotting it at the far post.
The second English goal came four minutes after the interval, as a Jill Scott free kick was headed on goal by Katie Chapman. Keeper Korpela got her hand to it but Williams reacted on the rebound.
Substitute Sjölund then pulled one back six minutes after the hour, after a Sällström header was cleared off the line by Sue Smith, but England immediately restored the gap as Aluko netted her second after a solo effort one minute later.
Home fans were given new hope when Sällström headed home from a corner kick in the 79th minute, but the Finnish wouldn't get another, as England advance to the semi final stage.
